Hey Elizabeth--welcome to the blog! My real name is Elizabeth too. My high school running career started a lot like yours. I jumped into cross country cold turkey...first race was around 30, last was around 24 min. The thing that kills me now is that I never trained between seasons, so I had to start from scratch every year. Looks like you have a better plan than that--good luck in your upcoming half! Keep TRAINING!

From Elizabeth on Thu, Nov 22, 2007 at 23:35:59

Thanxs for the welcome!! My real name is Sierra my middle name is Elizabeth. Close enough haha...Hopefully the training between seasons will pay off... good luck on your training!! :)

HILLS!! Fun run over to Artic Circle around the corner and up and down hills...I ran 2 hills today. I ran with my dad again (he made me go extra fast). We probably would of done more if tomarrow wasn't a long run. I felt sort of slugish!! When ever I eat to much or more then needed I feel horriable. I think I ran more with all this Christmas shopping....ugg!!

**reminder to self don't eat to much during this season!! :P

8 Miles....a long 8 miles!! My legs hurt really bad the entire run!! We did the Hospital run today. The first half was great the second nearly killed me. I think part of it was I didn't start running till 11:00 a.m, didn't eat breakfast, ran hills late last night, and put alot of miles in this week (more then writen about). It's weird to think last weekend I ran 9 STRONG miles and this week I got in 8 WHIMPY miles. But the run was great got in the long run for the week!!

Hey don't worry about it - it happens to everyone. Some days are good and other aren't, but you realize that it is just great to get out and get a run in.

Uggg....It's one of those days when you really want to run and it just dosen' work out!! Those are like bad days to me!! I feel really crapy cause I didn't get a run in either, it's sort of funny how it starts effecting your life after awhile. Well I better go get the rest of my group project done that nobody else is helping with....I hate group projects!! Eukanuba dog show is coming up too, better get that work done too!!

Ran over towards Artic Circles and down. It was a great run and my legs felt fresh and ready to go. I think I pushed to hard the first half cause I was out of gas the second. But it was still good although the other thing is I was tasting my curly fries from lunch......NASTY!!.....Lifes great!! Love running!!!

Hi,

Good job on your run. Gotta love them fries. Make sure you are keeping up on your homework. I am glad to hear that your day went better than it started. Make sure you give Sis. Brown a call to say thank-you.

From Sierra on Wed, Nov 28, 2007 at 20:05:21

Hahah!! That was angryfying!!Thanks for the help, and I think I'll make some chocolates for her!!! I almost got all the homework done for the time I'm gone over the Eukanuba dog show too!!

Good run today!! Did the 5 mile on the industrial road. I felt sort of slow, I think I was thinking to much, lost track of where I was. But I love those kind of runs!! The time seemed to fly but my feet didn't feel like they were flying. I think I need some new shoes my feet hurt bad and so did my knees. Trying to get in as many miles as I can before I get to leave for California Eukanuba dog show ( not really doing that should of been running 6 instead).I think I might just run around the parking lot there. :P

Have fun on your trip to California. Good work on your run. Help remind me to take you to the shoe store the first part of next week and we will see about getting you a new pair of shoes. I have wanted to do that for the last three or four weeks.

Nice quick run to Artic Circles and back. Ran out of time to do a 5 miler had to get my bags packed and get on the road!!

Gotta love hotels. We checked into the Hilton midday, walked over to the convention center to check out the rings and grooming space. Walked back to the hotel, got board so we went exploring....and we found a gym!! So me and my cousin went down and worked out!! It was way fun and she pushed me way hard too...we did a little bit of everything biked, ran, and lifted. It was a way fun day and got a California taste of what it's like to walk everywhere!! ** only included running miles

Total Distance

Another fun day!! Lots of walking to the show site and back to the hotel. And theres a big hill and we had to push heavy Bilbo up it!! GRUNT....just kidding. Went down to the gym later that night with my cousin and ran 4 miles and like .5 for a warm up, biked as much as my cousin wanted (she killed me!! talk about a girl with some leg power!!) and lifted some weights. Legs felt weird from being on them all day but it was still fun!!

Not included in the miles

All the walking we did and pushing Bilbo up the hill the convention center hill on the way back to the hotel. Good grunt that dog weighs alot! (just kidding)

Run on the beach with my cousin....(way way fun).....sort of a run...ran away from the big waves!! haha :)

Great trip! Not looking forward to coming home :(

You stayed in my house? The Hilton? And you didn't even say hello? How rude. jk ;) I'm glad you had a great time at the dog show!

PS - Did you win!?

From Sierra on Mon, Dec 03, 2007 at 18:13:26

Haha I actually thought about it when we were checking in...I was going to tell you about it being the "Hilton" but you beat me to it. The dog show was great and we did really well. See you around!! :)

From Tourtise on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 17:06:28

Hi Sierra,

You are assume. I didn't think you would be able to run in CA. I am glad that you took the time. When are we going out running together. I am planning on a five miler on Saturday.

Yuck!! Been feeling sick this week....Way to much homework and up to many late nights too. Not well enough to run. I swear it was the hair cut that did this to me. haha... I think I might go out and atleast put in an easy 3.

From Sierra on Sat, Dec 08, 2007 at 00:02:18

Thanks!! Um yea I cut 15 inches + so It's really around 17!!! I hope it makes me run faster!!

From Jon on Sat, Dec 08, 2007 at 01:42:12

Hang in their Sierra. By the way your hair looks great. I bet you will be able to run faster :)

From Benn on Sat, Dec 08, 2007 at 09:36:51

I hear you about hair cutting. I had hair that was past my shoulders and my girlfriend and mom teamed up on me to get it cut about two weeks ago. hehe It's all good though. I know it was for the best. I cut off about 10 inches but I feel a whole lot better now when I run, even though I hate short hair. I figure at least it will grow back. HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER!

Still sick, UGG!!! Got tired of just sitting around and staring at a wall so I bundled up and went running. Ran from my house to the high school ran  stadiums and a mile and then ran back home. Did a few lunges too. It wasn't the best run cause I caughed all the way through it, my legs were sore and my knees hurt so bad (think I need new shoes). But it was GREAT cause I got to run and now I feel good besides caughing out my lungs. Took me some convising for my mom to let me. But I'm glad I went. :)

Did the Artic Circle run. It felt good to run but I can still tell I need new shoes. Also its way hard to cough and run at the same time!! On top of the croupy cough my nose wasn't letting me breath either!! I feel like a ballooon head!! But i'm lucky my mom let me go.....guess some neighbor girls got scared of a few guys in a car whistlen at them.....I think its funny....but i probably would of freaked out too. My grandma thinks I should carry pepper spray with me!!HAHA got a crack out of that!! So if you see me going along don't scare me cause between my mom my grandma and my dad (officer manager dude) I'll probably end up with some!!

I did the Artic Circle loop and timed my self  I got 26:19(jogging). I really didn't know what to expect as fare as what the time would be cause I never time myself, so I guess it's good?!! All I know is the first time I ran that loop anybody could walked if faster then I could run it. I'm still sick though and i'm about ready to rip my lungs out of my throat!! I have a choir concert tonight and I can't sing, maybe i'll be the new base in girls choir.

You make me laugh Sierra. 26 is not a bad time for that loop. It is between 8.40 and 9.00 min miles. Not to bad for being sick and having old shoes :) When are we going to fix that problem?

From amanda on Wed, Dec 12, 2007 at 19:31:05

You went to bare foot? I need help because they love that I am go with kids but I have no idea what I am doing. I have never done gym stuff I did dance and swimming lessons.

From Sierra Worlton on Wed, Dec 12, 2007 at 19:39:48

Amanda --Yea I went up until 5-6th grade I think! What age divison do you have? Did they train you at all? Most the trainers there are really nice and wil help you out!! Let me know how it goes! And if you have any questions just ask I might have an answer..haha...good luck lucky duck!

From Sierra on Wed, Dec 12, 2007 at 19:41:32

Amanda-If they let you steal one of the pass of sheets I maybe be able to teach you what some of them are. Just keep in touch!! Good luck!!

From amanda on Wed, Dec 12, 2007 at 23:06:44

Ok Sierra you are a life saver. I am getting trained but it is overwhelming. I think I get some kind of paper that has the stuff I need to teach. I teach the little levels.

From sierra on Thu, Dec 13, 2007 at 17:24:13

Well if you want we can meet at the high school after school or we can come to my house where we have a tramp. I can teach you what you need to know with the little kids! Bring the materials they give you and i'll simplify everything (maybe). Only if you want to. Give me a call my number is 652-1213. Hope to talk to you soon!

From amanda lusk on Thu, Dec 13, 2007 at 21:43:08

Did the Artic Circle loop and it felt so GOOD! All my tests are done and I did great on all of them! Haven't been able to run cause of all the homework and test I had to study for (up till at least midnight and on). As I look back on it now I think it would of been better to go running get my brain moving a little bit! I also got new shoes....don't think I like them that much.....So today on the feet it was like thud thud thud so stiff!! Also 3 miles wasn't a walk in the park like it used to be...need to start working harder...But I think i'll keep it low until after Christmas.

WAHOO!! I'm back home, but its not warm :( !! I got back to St.George before my parents so I had to do a quick run, so I could help them unpack when they would finally made it. Ran down to Artic Circle. It was good to get out after being in a car all day. Although when I made it to Artic Circle I thought I was going to hurl :( But I pulled out of it and finished my run.

I went running with my dad from our house to the hospital, where my mom picked us up. It was so much fun to run with him!! We started out a little bit fast and I had to stop on the first mile because my stomach was tossing so bad I thought I was going to get sick again. But after backtracking for a few minutes I was ready to go and as good as new. My stomach didn’t bug me for the rest of the run; I think I need to eat a little healthier. But all in all it was really fun.

Hey Sierra,

Great run this evening. I am glad that you waited for me. We need to go run down by the Temple tomorrow or on Monday before they turn off the lights. Keep up the good work.

Total Distance

Ran with my dad again!! We drove over and parked at the St. George City library. Got out walked around a minute and then ran down to the temple. My dad used to run around there a lot when he went to Dixie College, so he led the way. Ran around the temple at least 2 times ….lights kept me distracted.  It was so pretty!! My dad told me he used to go to the temple with my mom before they were married and sit on one of the benches he showed me. Then we ran over to the Worthen  Park and did a big  lap on the grass. He went on to explain how when they were done with the temple they would go to the park and play catch, or just hang out. My parents met at Dixie College and both lived around the area. Ran back over to the temple a lap around that and back to the St. George City library. I love running with my dad….he pushes me, and sometimes I could kill him but it’s always fun to run and chat with him. That's usually when I get the most information out of him!! He might kill me for writing this but I LOVE YOU DAD!!!

Total Distance

Me and myself jogged down to Arctic Circle and back. I wasn’t too thrilled about going but I went because I really needed to!! After I was one mile in...In my whole 3 mile run…it felt good.  I thought about running a hill or two but then my stomach opted against it! So when I got home I checked my watch…BORDOM... And I found out that I ran under 10 minute miles!! Wahoo…that’s a first!! Since I got my watch, CHIRSTMAS, I found out that I was running in the high tens. Kept running and it went down and down, and today was the first day I had all miles in the 9 minute range…its high nines but still…WAHOO!!! Funny thing I wasn't really looking to improve...I wanted to but didn't try....tells me what a little practice can do!!
